Warnings Grow for Ukraine's Ability to Produce and Market Crops

According to the United Nations World Food Program executive director David Beasley, the world faces the risk of food shortages starting next year if Ukraine's export seaports remain blocked. Ongoing challenges of planting, harvesting, and safely storing and transporting grains, remains a major problem in Ukraine amidst the invasion by Russia. Ukraine is a significant supplier of grains to the world, but the ongoing war has severely disrupted agricultural production and transportation, and that problem is expected to be much greater this year and next year causing a major ripple throughout the world.
