Vilsack Recaps First Year at USDA

USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack spent most of this week highlighting what he sees as accomplishments made during the first year of the Biden administration. The Secretary issued a press statement summarizing the actions of the administration and he also attended a House Agriculture Committee where he echoed those notes and laid out a vision for the future. During the hearing, Secretary Vilsack also answered many questions from committee members and received suggestions how to best serve agriculture and rural needs.

Primary among the issues discussed was the "Phase 1" trade agreement with China, climate smart agriculture and forestry initiatives, supply chain challenges, disaster assistance, marketplace competition, broadband, infrastructure, and rural development.
