USTR Says China Not Meeting Phase 1 Agreement Terms

On Monday, October 4th, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai issued public remarks regarding trade between the United States and China. As part of her address, Representative Tai made it known that the U.S. plans to launch new talks with China. She indicated that the U.S. planned to retain existing tariffs as China to ensure full compliance with the trade deal, which was reached under the previous administration. She also indicated that China remains out of compliance with the World Trade Organization (WTO) in a wide range of areas that compete directly with the U.S. economy and have harmed U.S. businesses.
