USTR Meets with Counterparts in China

On Friday, October 8th, U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai met with her Chinese counterparts to elaborate on recently expressed concerns regarding the “phase one” trade pact and “state-led, non-market policies and practices that harm American workers, farmers and businesses." The meeting is likely to lead into future negotiations between the United States and China in areas of trade and economic practices. The two nations have a co-dependent, bilateral relationship that is complex and highly competitive. China is a vital U.S. agriculture export market as China represents 20 percent of world population and is a hub for global manufacturing and processing.
