USDA RMA Acting Administrator Highlights Insurance Coverage for Certain Irrigation Practices in Rice Production

Acting Administrator for USDA Risk Management Agency (RMA), Richard Flournoy, recently made an official blog post highlighting the agency's 2020 decision to offer federal crop insurance for rice farmers who adopt newer methods of irrigating rice, including alternate wetting and drying (AWD) and in-furrow irrigation, both of which are considered climate friendly for their reductions in water use and green house gas emissions. Featured in the blog post is Dow Brantley of England, Arkansas.
