USDA Issues Crop Value Report

On Thursday, February 25th, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) issued a crop value reports for Arkansas and the United States. According to the reports, the value of production for field crops in Arkansas during 2020 totaled $4.12 billion, up 18 percent from 2019. The top three crop commodities, soybeans, rice, and corn, accounted for 80 percent of the total value of production for field crops. Wheat showed the largest percentage increase at 72 percent in value of production from last year. Corn in Arkansas showed the largest decrease from 2019 at 11 percent, followed by cotton at 6 percent and hay at 3 percent.

At the national level, the value of production for field crops was up 21 percent, at $158.6 billion, from 2019. Corn, at $61.0 billion, was the leading field crop followed by soybeans at $46.1 billion and all hay at $17.3 billion.
