U.S. Ambassador to China, Terry Branstad, announced that he will depart his post in early October. Branstad has played a major role in negotiating with China since he took on the role in 2017, and he brought significant expertise in agriculture trade. In announcing his retirement, Branstad said, “I am proudest of our work in getting the Phase One trade deal and delivering tangible results for our communities back home."
