On Thursday, April 22, the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture held a hearing to consider President Biden's nominee to serve as Deputy Secretary of Agriculture. Jewel Bronaugh is the first African-American woman nominated to serve as deputy secretary of agriculture, and she is expected to be approved by the Senate. She currently serves as Commissioner of Agriculture for the Commonwealth of Virginia wher she's previously served as Stae Director for USDA Farm Service Agency.
