Lawsuits Filed Against USDA on Minority Debt Relief Plan

New lawsuits have recently been filed against USDA claiming that new loan forgiveness programs established by the agency discriminate against white farmers and ranchers. The loan forgiveness programs in question were recently put in place by USDA to help socially disadvantaged farmers who are defined as farmers who are Black, or African American, American Indians or Native Alaskans, Hispanics, Asians and Native Hawaiians or Pacific Islanders. The debt relief applies specifically to Farm Service Agency direct and guaranteed loans.
