Ivory Bill Declared Extinct

On Wednesday, September 29th, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) announced that it proposed to delist 23 species under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) due to a determination of extinction. Included in the list was the Ivory-billed Woodpecker, which was last reported to be discovered in 2004 in Arkansas after previously being declared extinct. The Ivory-billed Woodpecker was considered America's largest woodpecker.
