House Approves Fiscal Year 2023 Spending Bills on Party-line Vote

The U.S. House of Representatives recently approved a legislative package of six appropriations bills for the upcoming fiscal year, including funding proposals for USDA and the FDA. The measures passed on a party line vote of 220-207. The current fiscal year expires at the end of September. The 2023 Agriculture, Rural Development, Food and Drug Administration, and Related Agencies funding bill approved by the House proposes to provide $27.2 billion in funding, which is an increase of $2.075 billion, or 8 percent, above 2022.
