On Thursday, June 23, the U.S. House Committee on Appropriations approved its fiscal year 2023 agriculture appropriations bill. The bill proposes to spend $27.3 billion for the administration of various programs and operations of the USDA and Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The spending bill was approved on a party-line vote of 31-26. The measure represents an 8.3% increase from fiscal year 2022 funding levels, which do not include supplemental funds approved by Congress in recent years.
