On Monday, September 28th, the European Union notified Bayer that it would approve for import soybeans containing the XtendFlex genetics. This announcement marks a final milestone before Bayer looks to begin full commercialization of the seed in the United States in 2021. XtendFlex soybeans offer farmers the new genetic enhancemenets that add glufosinate tolerance to their dicamba tolerant Xtend system, which is expected to provide more herbicide flexibility through a growing season to better comply with use restrictions, improve efficacy with weed control, and to reduce resistance and dependence on singular solutions to weeds while providing yields similar to the Xtend system.
