EPA Administrator Visits Arkansas Announces Water Quality Grant for State

Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Andrew Wheeler visited Arkansas in late November and announed new grant funding for mitigating non-point source pollution to waters. As part of his visit to Arkansas, Administrator Wheeler toured the farm of Ag Council of Arkansas board member Trent Dabbs' farm near Stuttgart. The grant program will provide $3.2 million to the Arkansas Natural Resources Division of the Arkansas Department of Agriculture. The funding will be targeted to private lands near watersheds with water quality impairments caused by polluted runoff from nonpoint sources. The funds will support projects including best management practice installations for animal wastes, sediment, pesticide and fertilizer control; other structural and non-structural practices; watershed planning, monitoring, technology demonstrations; and education and outreach programs.
