December promises to be a very busy legislative time period for Congress as deadlines approach for critical items, including a need to address the debt ceiling and continue funding the federal government. Failure to address these issues, which are facing eminent deadlines next month, could lead to a government shutdown and default on the national debt. Both scenarios, if not avoided, would cause major economic problems for the United States. Also pending is what the Senate will do regarding the "Build Back Better" plan (H.R. 5376), which passed the House on November 19th.
