A new report co-written by CoBank and First Grain suggests that the U.S. rice industry could discover substantial market benefits if it is able to expand and scale up production, processing and marketing of aromatic varieties of rice. The report indicates increasing demand for aromatics both domestically and internationally while also anticipating reductions in demand for traditional long grain rice varieties that do not contain aromatic qualities. The report provided an overview of the marketplace and challenges facing the U.S. industry in making such a transition.
