Vilsack Announces Plans to Utilize CCC Funds for Variety of Initiatives

On Wednesday, September 29th, USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack announced plans to utilize up to $3 billion from the Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) for investments in new initiatives to support drought resilience and response, animal disease prevention, market disruption relief, and purchase of food for school nutrition programs. The announcement included a notice of request for information from agricultural interests on a separate new initiative to finance the deployment of climate-smart farming and forestry practices to aid in the marketing of climate-smart agricultural commodities. The deadline to provide comment is November 1.
