On Thursday, May 26th, the USDA announced new plans to allow early termination of certain Conservation Reserve Program (CRP) acres to allow for increased food production to help offset global shortages of certain commodities. The move was lauded by Senate Ag Committee vice chairman John Boozman (R-AR) who had previously suggested such action to provide opportunities for farmers to increase short-term production.
