On Thursday, March 31, USDA National Agriculture Statistics Service (NASS) issued its 2022 prospective plantings report. Nationally, USDA estimates corn acreage to be down 4 percent from 2021 and soybean acreage up 4 percent. In addition, the report estimates national cotton acreage to be up by 9 percent from 2021. For Arkansas, USDA estimates corn acreage to be down 12 percent, soybean acreage up 7 percent, cotton acreage up 8 percent and rice acreage down 2 percent.
