USA Rice Asks Vilsack for Aid for 2022 Crop Year

USA Rice submitted a letter to USDA Secretary Tom Vilsack urging aid to U.S. rice farmers for challenges facing the industry this crop year. The letter, penned by Chairman of USA Rice Farmers, Kirk Satterfield, requested no less than $400 million in aid. The aid is needed to help ensure continued production of rice for food supply and to provide economic relief to farmers struggling with inflation, supply chain challenges, and adverse weather conditions. The letter follows a request of Senator John Boozman (R-AR) to Secretary Vilsack during a Senate Agriculture Committee hearing on May 26th.
