US Cotton Trust Protocol Celebrates Year One Accomplishments

The U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol, a farm level, science-based program led by the National Cotton Council and its producer members to promote, market, and improve U.S. cotton, recently celebrated its first year in official operation. The sustainability initiative enrolls U.S. cotton producers in a program that brings quantifiable and verifiable goals and measurement to sustainable cotton production and drives continuous improvement in six key sustainability metrics– land use, soil carbon, water management, soil loss, greenhouse gas emissions and energy efficiency.

In the first year, the Trust Protocol welcomed more than 465 brand, retailer, mill and manufacturer members and secured 950,000 bales of cotton into the system.

Arkansas cotton farmers are encouraged to enroll in the Trust Protocol, and they are able to do so at anytime here: https://members.trustuscotton.org/register
