UofA Awarded $324,000 USDA Grant to Study Weed Management in Rice

The University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture announced that it was awarded a $324,000 USDA National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) grant to examine new weed management tactics in furrow irrigated and conventional rice production. The research is aimed at helping Arkansas growers maintain production acres and improve yields by establishing best management practices for managing threatening weeds. Arkansas is the top rice producing state in the United States and it is also home to many challenging weeds, including some that are known to be resistant to common herbicides. The USDA funding will compliment grower funded research provided through the Arkansas Rice Research and Promotion Board.
