UofA Advises on Cover Crops

Following harvest, many Arkansas farmers are considering the use of cover crops, which can produce several benefits for production systems in Arkansas including improved soil health, increased nitrogen, better water filtration, and additional weed control options among other agronomic benefits. The University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture offers a range of information to help farmers make appropriate decisions when it comes to the use of cover crops in their production systems. In addition to a range of potential agronomic benefits associated with cover crops, there are additional potential economic benefits as well in regard to conservation programs, carbon markets, and reduced input expenses.
