U.S. Trade Negotiators to Meet with Chinese for Phase 1 Review

U.S. trade negotiators are scheduled to meet with Chinese representatives by video conference August 15th to discuss the status of the Phase 1 agreement reached between the Trump and Xi administrations. So far to date China is not meeting their commitments on agriculture purchases, but there has been a recent flurry of sales to China in recent weeks. The agreement, which was reached late January and activated February 15th, was made much more complicated with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, which originated in China in 2019 and has since spread around the globe. The virus has wreaked havoc on the global economy and significantly disrupted international commerce.
