U.S. Supreme Court Denies Bayer Petition on Glyphosate Case

On Tuesday, June 21st, the U.S. Supreme Court denied a petition from Bayer (formerly Monsanto) seeking a review of a federal appeals court ruling on a California case that found the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) does not preempt state tort-law claims regarding state laws that requiring additional product warning labels for consumers. Bayer issued a statement following the decision in which they expressed disagreement with the court and reinforced its intent to continue to defend its position regarding the safety of glyphosate and its belief in the role of federal regulations superceding certain state regulations.
