Trump Administration Eases Regulatory Burdens of NEPA

On Wednesday, July 15th, the Trump Administration released a new rule to ease the regulatory burdens associated with the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The move was touted by the President as an effective way of slashing a web of needless bureaucracy that is holding back the U.S. economy. The changes are designed to expedite completion of NEPA reviews and reduce the scope of actions that would require such reviews. It also limits the length required for environmental assessments and environmental impact statements while also excluding from environmental reviews "non-federal" projects.
