On May 5th, Syngenta announced that it had entered into a $4.5 billion three-year sustainability-linked loan (SLL), which represents the largest loan of its kind in the Asia Pacific loan market. SSLs are loans that typically tie interest rates to corporate sustainability goals. The details of terms of the loan agreement and related sustainability goals were not revealed in the inital announcement of the loan, but Syngenta has laid out public "good growth" goals with four new global commitments to reduce agriculture’s carbon footprint and to help farmers deal with the extreme weather patterns caused by climate change.
