Senate Passes $1.9 Trillion Rescue Bill and Returns it to House

On Saturday, March 6th, the U.S. Senate approved the $1.9 trillion Covid-19 aid and economic recovery legislation (H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act) returning it to the House for final consideration. The measure was approved by a party-line vote, and it is expected to quickly be approved by the House and sent to President Biden for his signature. The spending bill is expected to be signed by the end of the week.

This aid package is limited in the amount of direct farmer aid made available. The agriculture components are mostly related to food supply chain initiatives, relief for minority farmers, and nutrition and food aid programs.
