Senate Moves to Consider $1.9 Trillion COVID Aid & Economic Recovery Bill

The U.S. Senate voted to move to consider the $1.9 trillion COVID aid and economic recovery legislation from the House (H.R. 1319, the American Rescue Plan Act). The Senate will consider a significant number of amendments related to the bill prior to voting for final passage. The bill, however, is expected to pass likely on a party-line vote and sent to President Biden for his signature.

This aid package is limited in the amount of direct farmer aid made available. The agriculture components are mostly related to food supply chain initiatives, relief for minority farmers, and nutrition and food aid programs.
