Senate Republicans are expected to soon unveil a $1 trillion COVID-19 aid package in the coming days. While full details are not yet available, it is expected that the legislation will include additional funding for USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation (CCC) for purposes of delivering additional aid to American farmers. The Senate bill will still have to be reconciled with a House bill that is $3 trillion dollars total in order to make it from Congress to the White House. While both the House and Senate hope to provide an aid package before August, negotiations may take considerable time considering the vast difference in funding levels and spending priorities.
Senator Boozman (R-AR) and Senator Hoeven (R-ND) are leading the development of the Senate aid package as members of the Senate Agriculture and Appropriations Committee.
