On Thursday, July 28th, Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy (D-VT) released all twelve spending bills for the upcoming fiscal year, which begins October 1. In total, the proposed spending bills would increase defense spending by 8.7% and non-defense spending by 10.1% over fiscal year 2022. The agriculture spending bill, which funds the USDA and the FDA, would increase spending by 9%, or $2.3 billion, to $27.1 billion.
