Senate Appears Poised to Consider Reconciliation Bill

On Wednesday, July 27th, Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) announced that he reached an agreement on a budget reconciliation package that would make investments in health care, energy, and climate related programs while also contributing to deficit reduction with the implementation of new corporate taxes. Included in the legislative package, which is named the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, is more than $20 billion in new spending for USDA conservation programs. The legislation is expected to receive consideration before the full Senate as early as next week.
