Senate Agriculture Committee Holds Hearing on Trade Issues

On Thursday, June 9th, the U.S. Senate Agriculture, Nutrition & Forestry Committee’s Subcommittee on Commodities, Risk Management, and Trade held a hearing to consider a range of trade issues. The title of the hearing was, “Agricultural Trade: Priorities and Issues Facing America’s Farmers.” Much of the hearing focused on the benefit of trade development and export marketing programs including the Market Access Program (MAP) and Foreign Market Development Program (FMD), which help develop and grow export markets for U.S. grown commodities. In addition, the hearing considered other obstacles in export markets and potential solutions for removing or reducing those obstacles.
