Rex Nelson Features Arkansas Rice and UofA Ag Research in Recent Columns

Rex Nelson, a well known statewide personality and senior editor of the Arkansas Democrat Gazette, recently published three articles highlighting the Arkansas rice industry and important agricultural research by the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture to support agriculture in Arkansas. The articles were timely as September is rice month, which is a time to recognize the importance of rice to the State of Arkansas.

The first article (Rice land) highlighted the important role of family farms in leading the rice industry and continuing efforts towards sustainability and environmental stewardship from generation to generation. The article also highlighted the efforts of these farming families to invest in research to further advance the industry. The second article (The rice capital) focused on the role of the University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture in conducting much of the research that has helped sustain and advance the rice industry in Arkansas with the help of farmer-led investments. This article explained the latest investment of the Northeast Arkansas Rice Research and Extension Center, which will bring even more value to the rice industry into the future. The third article (Fields in the fields) more broadly described the important role of the University of Arkansas System's Division of Agriculture role in supporting various commodities throughout the state with research and extension efforts that continue to meet the need of the industry with the help of farmer-led investments.
