President Biden Signs Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Into Law

On Monday, November 15th, President Biden signed into law the bipartisan infrastructure legislation approved by Congress on November 5th. The measure provides roughly $1 trillion in supplemental funding for infrastructure related to transportation, broadband, water, and energy. In addition to signing the measure into law, the president also established an implementation task force comprised of various cabinet secretaries to oversee the use of the funding.

In addition to infrastructure spending, the legislation included language that should alleviate supply chain issues related to trucking. For example, the measure would establish a three-year, national pilot program, authorizing up to 3,000 18-20-year-old drivers at any one time to undergo advanced safety training in order to participate in interstate commerce. The measure also contained some language that should improve the Hours of Service regulations related to livestock haulers.
