NRCS Announces New Final Rule for EQIP Program

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently released an updated final rule for the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP). The rule updates the program as directed under the 2018 farm bill and incorporates additional public feedback received through the rulemaking process. The EQIP program is very popular among producers implementing certain environmental stewardship practices on their farm and in their production operation including cover crops, nutrient management, forest stand improvement, prescribed grazing, irrigation efficiency improvement, and water quality improvements. Implementing EQIP conservation practices improves helps to address water and air issues, improve soil health, and provide greater wildlife habitat while also improving agricultural operations.
