New ITC Decision Could Lead to More Increases in Fertilizer Prices

On March 11th, the United States International Trade Commission (USITC) of the Department of Commerce determined that the U.S. fertilizer industry is materially injured by reason of illegal government subsidized imports of phosphate fertilizers from Morocco and Russia. The finding will lead the Department of Commerce to initiate countervailing duties on imports of phosphate fertilizers from the two countries, which is expected to lead to additional fertilizer price increases for U.S. farmers.
