New Dicamba Rules for 2021 Crop Year

While Arkansas's proposed rules governing use of dicamba in 2021 are yet to be finalized, new federal rules are established, and training will be a mandatory component for applicators. Currently, Arkansas has proposed rules governing use that are very similar to those from 2020 with a May 25th cutoff date and a special permit available for use beyond that date on acreage East of the Mississippi River levee. In addition, there will be specific buffers around sensitive acres as well as tank mix requirements related to mandated additives to mitigate volatility concerns and prohibited mixing of glyphosate, which is said to increase volatility.

At the Plant Boards upcoming meeting on March 3rd, the Board is expected to hear a petition filed seeking full federal label for use in Arkansas. The current proposed rule is still under consideration and review by Governor Hutchinson and will also need review and consideration by the General Assembly's Legislative Council before taking effect. If no action is taken, the rules in place in 2020 will carry forward.
