According to news reports, Mexico's President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador announced this week plans to fully phase out the use of glyphosate herbicide in Mexico by the year 2024. He stated that the government would immediately stop using glyphosate on its own projects. Imports of glyphosate are already prohibited in Mexico and it is reported to be in short supply currently. Farmers in Mexico have expressed great opposition to the decision stating that the only outcome of the decision is less food production in Mexico.
