On July 19, the USDA National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) issued a Crop Progress and Condition Report. According to the report, in Arkansas, 96 percent of corn is silking, 53 percent dough, 23 percent dented, 1 percent mature. For cotton, 93 percent is squaring and 56 percent is setting bolls. Peanuts are 88 percent pegging while rice is 8 percent headed. Soybeans are 99 percent emerged, 81 percent booming, and 56 percent setting pods. The crop condition generally remains in solid shape for most across the state with a majority of acres of all crops in good to excellent condition with peanuts and cotton leading the way.
