On Thursday, October 1, the House took up and approved another COVID-19 aid spending bill that is primarily aimed at helping state and local governments, businesses and families struggling as a result of the pandemic and policies to mitigate the spread of the virus. The bill is likely the last major bill with any chance of going through Congress before the November elections. However, it's not clear if the support on the Republican side is sufficient to get approved in the Senate and signed by President Trump. Negotiations are ongiong, and the $2.2. trillion bill is a scaled back version of the previous proposal which had a price tag of over $3 trillion.
