The Arkansas Catfish industry joined state officials this week at the Arkansas Department of Agriculture to celebrate Catfish Month under a proclamation made by Governor Hutchinson. Arkansas ranks third among U.S. catfish producing states, and the industry contributes nearly $20 million to Arkansas's agriculture economy on an annual basis. Arkansas is also known as the birthplace of warm water aquaculture and a national leader in aquaculture education and research.
