Farmers have until March 5th to apply for financial assistance from USDA Farm Service Agency (FSA) for quality losses to crops from the 2018 and 2019 crop year. This is a new program established by Congress in an appropriation act approved in late 2020. For Arkansas farmers, this program will be helpful for producers who experienced quality discounts in 2018 and 2019. In 2018 many crops, especially soybeans, experience quality losses due to excessive moisture at harvest. Discounts applied by buyers were significant during that time due to poor quality and weak demand from export markets.
