Following Two-day Hearing STB Sends Directive to Railroads

Following a two-day hearing on rail service problems in late April, the Surface Transportation Board (STB) issued new directives to railroads in an effort to address concerns raised by shippers. Much of the hearing focused on agricultural shipments that were experiencing high rates, delays and other service disruptions. The directives will require certain railroads to submit service recovery plans as well as provide additional data and regular progress reports on rail service, operations, and employment.
