Federal Judge Denies Effort to Stop New WOTUS Rule

On Friday, U.S. District Court Judge Richard Seeborg denied an effort by Democratic attorneys general to halt new Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rules defining what streams and wetlands should be regulated under the Clean Water Act. The attorneys general were seeking a preliminary injunction or delay to the rule's implementation. Due to the ruling, the new Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule went officially into force on Monday, June 22.
