Famous Jones BBQ in Marianna Seeks to Rebuild After Fire

The world famous and renowned Jones Bar-B-Q Diner in Marianna, Arkansas suffered extensive fire damage the morning of Sunday, February 28. According to reports, the fire occured while Mr. Jones was cooking in his fire pit, which unexpectedly caught fire and caused extensive damage to the establishment. The diner has been opened since the early 1900s and is regarded as one of the country's oldest black family owned restaurants. In 2012 the restaurant received a James Beard Award and was deemed to be "An American Classic." The family seeks to rebuild, and there is a fundraising initiative underway to help the family rebuild and reopen. Donations to support the family business's efforts to rebuild and reopen are currently being accepted via a GoFundMe account set up by the Arkansas Venture Center, which supports entrepreneurship and small businesses in Arkansas. The fundraising campaign will close March 7th.
