EPW Committee Considers Biden's Nominee for EPA Administrator

On February 3rd, the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works (EPW) Committee held a nomination hearing for Michael Regan to be Administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Regan previously served as the Secretary of the Department of Environmental Quality for North Carolina, and worked at the EPA ten years and two administrations. His career also included eight years with the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF).

During the hearing, Arkansas Senator John Boozman asked Regan questions regarding the Waters of the U.S. (WOTUS) rule and the definition of navigable waters. Boozman noted the importance of having a rule that was not harmful to agriculture and working with farmers rather than against them. Regan responded by saying he looked forward to working with stakeholders, including farmers on water issues and other environmental issues.
