EPA to Deny Certain Biofuel Waivers

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it would not provide "gap year" waivers for ethanol production required of the renewable fuel standard (RFS). The decision, which is made in partnership with the Department of Energy, was praised by representatives of the renewable fuel industry. According to news report, the EPA was considering 68 petitions seeking such exemptions.
