EPA Hits Nutrien with Substantial Fine for Dicamba Applications

On November 10th, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced that it was issuing $668,100 in penalties to Nutrien Ag Solutions Inc. for illegal applications of dicamba in 2020. According to EPA, the company allegedly made multiple off-label applications of dicamba that violated the terms of the label as well as court orders issued by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which issued an order to vacate the registration of two dicamba products registered for in-crop use. Dicamba products previously eligible for in-crop use were re-registered for use in November of 2020 under a five year approval. That registration status is currently under review by the EPA.
