EPA Continues to Kick Can on Renewable Fuels Standards

On January 28th, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a final rule that provided refiners relief for meeting compliance with renewable fuel standards (RFS) by delaying compliance with renewable volume requirements. The decision was criticized by renewable fuel advocates who believe that such compliance waivers should not be granted and that the U.S. should move aggressively in expanding renewable fuel production to address growing climate concerns and to support farmers and the ethanol industry.
